Terms of Service
Effective date: July 24, 2026
Clio is operated by Clio Assistant LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Clio (“we,” “our,” or “us”), an AI-powered booking receptionist service. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
Clio provides an embeddable AI chat widget that answers customer inquiries and books appointments on your behalf. The widget is hosted by us and embedded on your website via a JavaScript snippet. You configure the widget with your business information, services, and availability.
2. Account eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal authority to enter into these Terms on behalf of yourself or your business. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Clio to:
- Provide false or misleading information to customers through the widget.
- Collect customer data for purposes other than managing your appointments.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the AI system.
- Violate any applicable law or regulation in your use of the service.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the business information, services, and pricing you configure in Clio. We are not liable for bookings made based on incorrect information you provide.
4. Subscription and billing
- Free trial: New accounts receive a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to start.
- Paid plan: After the trial, continued use requires a paid subscription at the then-current monthly rate, billed in advance.
- Cancellation: You may cancel at any time from your dashboard. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. We do not issue partial refunds for unused time.
- Payment processing: All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card information.
5. Your data and your customers’ data
You retain ownership of your business data and your customers’ booking information. By using Clio, you grant us a limited licence to process that data solely to provide the service. We do not sell your data or your customers’ data to third parties. Our full data practices are described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the appropriate consent from your customers to collect their booking information and communicate with them via email.
6. Google Calendar integration
If you connect Google Calendar, you authorise Clio to read your availability and create, update, or delete calendar events for bookings. You can revoke this access at any time from your account settings or directly through your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
7. AI-generated content
The booking widget uses an AI language model to respond to your customers. While we configure the AI to only use information you provide, AI systems can occasionally produce unexpected responses. You are responsible for reviewing your widget configuration and should test it before making it live. We are not liable for individual AI responses that deviate from your configured information.
8. Uptime and service availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Clio depends on third-party infrastructure (Vercel, Supabase, Anthropic, Google) whose outages are outside our control. We are not liable for losses resulting from service downtime.
9. Termination
Either party may terminate the relationship at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice. After termination, you may request deletion of your account data by contacting us, and we will delete or de-identify it within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clio is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including lost revenue, missed bookings, or customer disputes — arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
